Piper I Manual (printed version)
Most students tell us that this is the best course manual that they have ever seen, and because it is continually updated the content is more current than a textbook. The information is based upon twenty-first century concepts. This manual covers three major topic areas. First is a comprehensive background overview of all aspects of TMJ anatomy, etiology of injury, classification of joint disorders, occlusion disturbances, and pain patterning. Next is a complete orientation to all aspects of modern TMJ diagnosis, taking the mystery out of topics such as CT scans and MRI scans. The manual concludes with a comprehensive step by step overview of treatment options. The “Piper Cookbook” chapter reviews the appropriate treatment for every stage of temporomandibular injury. The progression of TMJ pathology in both children and adults is illustrated. This is all the written background you will need to gain a complete perspective of temporomandibular disorders and their treatment.

MRI of the Month Series
Move your practice into the twenty-first century. We have designed a home series for the participant who wants to learn at their leisure. This series consists of ten patient cases. Each case will include a patient history and a detailed review of their MRI scan.
Dr. Piper will orient you to MRI's in general, and then take you step by step through each MRI sequence generated. He will explain what each sequence represents and point out that patient's particular findings. The interpretation of MRI scans may be the most important diagnostic skill that you will ever develop.
It is strongly recommended you have reviewed the DVD, Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Orientation, Interpretation, and Diagnosis of Temporomandibular Disorders, prior to beginning Series One.

Doppler Diagnosis of Internal Derangement
84 min. Now for the first time on video you can have a complete basic course on Doppler auscultation as presented by Dr. Mark Piper, the developer of the technique. You will experience first-hand how to master the Doppler, and you will soon appreciate why this is the most important screening examination that you can offer to your patients with TMJ problems. The key to learning Doppler auscultation is repetition, and with your own tape of Dr. Piper’s examples you can get Doppler started in your practice. This course is not available from any other clinician. Take advantage of this unique opportunity today.

Unstable Occlusion from Temporomandibular Joint Internal Derangement
28 min. Anyone who treats occlusal abnormalities recognizes that some bites are not stable. Find out how to unlock the mechanisms accounting for unstable occlusions, anterior open bites, mandibular recession, and altered facial growth patterns. These concepts of occlusal and facial skeletal change related to TMJ abnormalities may be the most important new findings to face dentistry this century. If you treat the occlusion, this may be the best professional videotape you will ever buy.

Facial Pain Layering and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
49 min. No condition in the body is more potentially debilitating than Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)or Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). Unfortunately dental patients all too often develop this syndrome after dental procedures, or injury. Other CRPS is confusing in patients with temporomandibular disorders, and unsuspecting clinicians may cause further injury with attempts to rectify a patient's clinical problem. In this video course you will learn how to recognize, diagnose, and treat this complex entity. You will learn how you most likely have already experienced this condition in your patients who have developed unusual dental or facial pain.

Sequential Anatomy of the Temporomandibular Joint: An Aid to Understanding Magnetic Resonance Imaging
30 min. In this computerized videotape, a three-dimensional rendering of the anatomy of the temporomandibular joint is presented. Horizontal, coronal, and sagittal sections are taken from a three-dimensional view of the joint to demonstrate specific anatomical structures. Fresh, unembalmed specimens of the joint are manipulated to demonstrate the function of the joint and the lateral pterygoid muscle. Cine MR images of joints with normal, fibrosed to fossa (closed lock), and anteriorly displaced disks are shown. Cine MRIs of the TMJ in the coronal plane are shown with cuts oriented to the temporal bone so the condyle moves back and forth through the plane of orientation. Then the plane of orientation is indexed to the condyle so the fossa and eminence move back and forth. This computer-manipulated, three-dimensional demonstration of the detailed anatomy of the TMJ facilitates an understanding of the anatomy, function, pathofunction, and imaging of the TMJ in a unique videotape.
