PERC Mission Statement

The Piper Education and Research Center is dedicated to
continually seeking, applying, and openly sharing the truths about the etiologies and consequences of temporomandibular joint disorders . . .

. . . as these truths apply to the advancement of the highest standards of diagnosis, treatment, and healing of injured joints throughout the continuum of life . . .

. . . whether predicting altered growth and development of the joint resulting in facial skeletal and occlusal defects in children . . .

. . . whether determining the degeneration of the adult joint and the resulting destructive consequences to the dentition and its supporting structures . . .

. . . whether diagnosing joint tissue breakdown in the alteration of the airway . . .

. . . and whether differentiating the various components of complex pain patterns that accompany joint damage.

As these truths are realized, they shall be revealed generously and compassionately to the affected persons and to the professionals responsible for the well-being of this population.
